Jobsite safety is about more than equipment, procedures and physical hazards. It also means paying attention to the well-being of the people you work alongside every day.
Substance misuse, stress, burnout and other mental health struggles can affect judgment, reaction time, attendance and performance, creating risks for the individual and the entire crew. Recognizing changes in behavior, isolation, unexplained absences or sudden performance issues can be an important first step in identifying when someone may need support.
If you are struggling, speak up. If you are concerned about a coworker, reach out. Looking out for one another helps build a safer, stronger workplace.
